Taxi Fares In Malaga On The Increase

The Urban Planning, Mobility, and Security Commission of Malaga has unanimously approved the upward adjustment of taxi fares for the year 2024, as requested by the Unified Malaga Association of Autonomous Taxis (Aumat). The proposal includes a 3% increase in various fare components and the reinstatement of the luggage or baggage supplement.

According to the proposal, the approval of fare updates has been submitted to the Malaga City Council. Specifically, for tariff 1, the minimum fare is 4.20; flag drop, 1.71; per kilometer, 0.96; and waiting time per hour, 21.82.

On the other hand, for tariff 2, the minimum fare is 5.19; flag drop, 2.10; per kilometer, 1.16; and waiting time per hour, 26.90.

Tariff 1 applies to services from Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 22:00, while tariff 2 is for services on weekdays from 22:00 to 06:00, weekends, holidays from 00:00 to 24:00, services during the official period of the August Fair and Holy Week from 00:00 to 24:00, and services on December 24 and 31 from 16:00 to 24:00.

Regarding supplements, the luggage supplement is 0.49 euros; airport origin-destination services: 6.00 euros; airport service tariff 1, minimum fare: 16.62 euros; airport service tariff 2, minimum fare: 20.78 euros; services from 00:00 to 06:00 every day: 2.06 euros; minimum fare with origin/destination at Levante Maritime Station, Port of Malaga: 8.74 euros; and service in adapted vehicles from the fifth passenger onwards: 2.58 euros.

Other proposals from the sector, such as introducing new supplements like traveling with pets (2 euros), picking up at official stops in the fairground during the Malaga Fair (4.10 euros), or applying a special rate from January 2 to January 5, have been rejected.

After approval by the Commission and the Malaga City Council, the text will be sent to the Andalucian Regional Government, specifically to the Directorate General of Taxes, Financing, Financial Relations with Local Corporations, and Gambling of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Andalusian Regional Government, for approval.
