Price increases on most daily goods, on fuel, on energy, and more, combined with inflation, means that the Spaniards are hit hard on their disposable amount for the household.

Purchasing power has fallen by 4.1 percent in the first quarter of this year, figures from the OECD show.

Food products alone have increased by 22 percent. This is the highest increase within the EU. One of the big increases is accounted for by cooking oils. They have increased by no less than 54 percent. The average in the EU is 34 percent.

In particular, the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has been a contributing factor to the large price increases we see in Spain – and in all other countries.
