The President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, announced this morning that the VAT on gas will be reduced from the current 21% to 5%.
Pedro Sanchez stated in an interview with Cadena SER that initially the reduction will be from October to the end of the year.
The president has also said that the ceiling on gas imposed in the so-called Iberian exception has meant an average saving on the bill of 15% He also made it clear that the government “does not envisage” cuts in Spain’s gas supply compared to countries such as Britain or Germany, which predict a winter with cold houses: “We are not considering restrictions on gas for this winter”
