Malaga has announced plans to double the current 1,000 five-star beds available in the Andalucían province within four years

According to the most recent information obtained from the Malaga City Council’s tourism department, the capital of Malaga currently offers 960 high-quality rooms across four different hotels. These are: The Vincci Selección Posada el Patio, Only You Hotel Málaga, Soho Boutique Castillo de Santa Catalina, and the Gran Hotel Miramar.

A recent report from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), revealed that there were 807 rooms available in five-star facilities in August 2021 for the entire province of Sevilla (data for 2022 has not yet been published). There are ten hotels in the top category just in the capital of Sevilla itself.

There were 3,303 rooms available in August 2021 if we used data for the province as a whole rather than just the capital. The Hard Rock Hotel in Marbella and the reopening of La Zambra (formerly the Byblos) in Mijas, are not included in the data and should be added to these figures.

The first mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, recently pointed out the need to expand the number of rooms in five-star hotels available in the city. In the news lately are a series of major investment projects for the region as a whole. Links below.
