The Andalucian councillors for Justice and Industry were snapped watching the Spain V Costa Rica World Cup match during the 2023 budget debate
It seems to happen every time there is a massive event (usually sports) whose schedule coincides with the working hours of a good part of the population and the World Cup in Qatar is among them.
This was the case of Spain’s first game, which was played on Wednesday, November 23, against Costa Rica at the ‘ungodly hour’ of 5:00 p.m.
Over the past few days, the media (press, radio, television…) have heavily debated whether or not it is illegal to watch a football game during working hours and whether or not a company can penalise and even fire those who are caught doing it. Tricks and get-arounds have been posted on social networks, including Tik Tok, so that students can follow the World Cup while pretending to follow their classes.
However, this obviously does not apply to public servants, as it seems that the councilors for Justice ( José Antonio Nieto ) and Industry ( Jorge Paradela ) of the Junta de Andalucía are either not concerned with the former (being penalized or fired) or have followed the latter (the advice to reconcile football and attend meetings at the same time).
This was clear from the picture that Ángeles Férriz, spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Parliament of Andalucia and deputy secretary general of the PSOE of Andalucia, shared on Twitter, which shows Nieto and Paradela following the party debate of Spain from their seats in the Andalucian Parliament.
If this is not already serious in itself, it is even worse than the session in question was dedicated to the serious debate of the Andalucian Budget for 2023!
