Police in Benidorm Alicante have arrested 11 people for allegedly selling a variety of fake luxury goods on a street market
The police raid, located on the street market in Rincón de Loix, in the eastern part of the city, resulted in the seizure of over 2,400 counterfeit goods.
The prestigious brands consisted mostly of textiles, leather goods, and watches. The vendors have been charged with alleged crimes against intellectual and industrial property.
The investigations began when the Benidorm National Police Station received a complaint from a person, (identity withheld), who represents several prestigious brands. The person reported to the police that the alleged counterfeit products were offered every Wednesday and Sunday in various stalls of the street market.
As confirmed by a counterfeit expert familiar with the case, the market price of the one hundred high-end brand watches alone exceeds 800,000 euros.
