A British national has been found dead by Spanish police close to a beach near the resort of Can Picafort on the northeastern part of the island
The young man’s body was reportedly spotted floating in the sea by local residents close to the Mar y Paz Hotel at around 10.0am on the morning of Tuesday, December 6. According to a witness, a local police officer jumped into the sea to recover the body.
The Guardia Civil and medical personnel arrived on the scene quickly. However, sadly, medics were unable to save the victim’s life. Despite the fact that doctors continued CPR while he was being transported to the mainland, he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to find out the young man’s identity and the exact cause of death- initially assumed to be drowning.
