WhatsApp messaging service has made a huge app change that affects all of its 2 billion users—check it out below!

Meta Platforms, the owner of WHATSAPP, has finally added customisable avatars for its users. This means you can now create a digital representation of yourself that you can use across the app. iPhone users will notice it is very similar to the Apple Memoji feature that lets you share custom avatars (and stickers) with pals.

The WhatsApp beta test version functionality had been aggressively teased online recently. Additionally, it is already accessible on Facebook and Instagram, both of which are owned by Meta.

However, from today, Wednesday, December 7, it is operational and functioning on WhatsApp, so you can begin creating right away.

Before you start, if you want to check it out, make sure you’ve updated your WhatsApp to the latest version of the app.

Using your WhatsApp profile image, you can utilize your personalised avatar. You can also share it as one of the 36 available and different stickers.

WhatsApp explained:

“Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hairstyles, facial features, and outfits. Sending an avatar is a fast and fun way to share feelings with friends and family. It can also be a great way to represent yourself without using your real photo so it feels more private. For many people, this will be the first time creating an avatar and we’ll continue to deliver style enhancements including lighting, shading, hairstyle textures, and more that will make avatars even better over time.”
