Spain’s Aemet weather agency is forecasting rain every day in the southern peninsula until at least the end of the week
Four Andalucían provinces are already on storm warnings this Monday, December 12. Cordoba, Huelva, Jaén, and Seville are on yellow alert today. Rainfall in those areas is expected to accumulate up to 15 litres per square meter in one hour.
The weather is expected to get worse from Tuesday when amber alerts will likely be put in place. The rain the region experienced over the weekend (60mm) is slight in comparison to what is on the way, according to Aemet.
According to the latest forecast, there will be a total of 35 provinces in Spain put on alert for Storm Efraín this Monday. Rain, wind, snowfall (Granada), and high waves, on a day where cloudy or overcast skies will predominate, are expected.
The northwest of the peninsula and the southern Atlantic slope have not escaped the warnings. Aemet has forecasts for abundant rainfall, with occasional storms for those areas.
Winds will be locally strong or persistent in Galicia, northern Andalucía, the west of the Central system, and the southern plateau.
