The body of an environmental agent and his vehicle have been found on a riverbed in Villarino de Los Aire, in the south of the Salamanca province

The deceased agent, 55-year-old Juan Pedro, had been swept away in his vehicle, which was discovered by search teams this morning, Wednesday, December 14. The body of the agent was found just a few meters away from his almost fully submerged car.

Police believe that the environmental agent had attempted to cross the riverbed, but the sheer force of the water overturned the vehicle. The province had been put on yellow alert by Aemet due to heavy rains from Storm Efraín.

The region of Extremadura was hit by severe flooding as Storm Efraín arrived in the west of Spain on Tuesday, December 13. Around 200 people were evacuated from Camino Viejo de San Vicente in Badajoz and from homes close to the River Guadiana.
