Hoteliers in the capital of the Province of Málaga and Sevilla hope to exceed 60% occupancy over the Christmas period

According to the president of the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), José Luque, Hoteliers expect the occupancy rate of 60% to be exceeded across the establishments of the Costa del Sol during the Christmas holidays.

Coupled with the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the end-of-season bookings are normally around 73%.

The hotels are busy preparing the Christmas celebrations, but will this year break any records when back in 2019, tourists who decided to take part in traditional activities were responsible for some 84.35% of the reservations.

“Although some months have managed to exceed the occupancy percentages of 2019, there is still a long way to go. There are hotels that are closed or with figures below what is desirable, to which it is necessary to add the concern about cost increases that have been keeping us on edge for a long time”, pointed out José Luque.

The areas in most demand for Christmas Eve are Malaga, with 55.88%, Ronda with 41.05%, Nerja with 70.25%, and Torremolinos with 63.37%.

In the case of New Year’s Eve, the same destinations stand out again, with the capital reporting 79.60% and the municipality of Ronda with 79.43% registered bookings.
