Inflation in Spain is being blamed for the country’s three largest mobile telecommunication operators to declare substantial rate increases from January 2023
After reaching a peak of 10.8% in July, Spain’s inflation rate is predicted to average 8.5% in 2022. This is mostly due to significant rises in the cost of energy and food.
The three biggest mobile service providers, Telefonica, Vodafone Spain, and MasMovil, have all announced rate rises of more than 6%. Price rises will take effect from mid-January in the new year (2023).
MasMovil, which merged with Orange Spain in July, asserts that just 20% of its 15 million+ users—those who own a second mobile device—will be affected by the price increases.
Digi Mobile Spain, which has more than 3 million mobile subscribers, is the fastest-growing mobile operator in the country, registering 29% growth in the past year, which has largely been attributed to its budget-priced plans. the company has so far not announced any price increases.
