Pirate taxis services are likely to increase after Malaga City Council agreed to approve an ‘inflationary’ 6.15% increase

The City Council of the capital will approve the 6.15% increase proposed by the sector, which includes a surcharge of 2.5 euros in 9-seater taxis for the fifth traveller.

The rates in the capital will climb linearly by 6.15% to account for the higher operational costs, which are mostly brought on by the escalation of fuel, after the price increases of 1.46% in 2019 and 1.6% in 2020.

The request made by the majority associations of the union (Aumat and Taxi Union) to once again update prices is expected to be approved by the Malaga City Council on Monday, January 16, in the plenary commission meeting for Territory Planning and Mobility.

The proposal must first be ratified in the municipal plenary session and sent to the General Directorate of Financial Relations with Local Corporations of the Junta de Andalucía to authorize the modification and order its publication in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía. Andalusia (BOJA).

Once published, a date will be announced when the new prices will be applied.
