One person has died and others have been injured after a three-vehicle pile-up on the A-45 in Antequera, Malaga, Spain
The health services have confirmed that a 30-year-old man has died and four people (22, 24, 45, and 74 years old) have been injured and transferred to the Antequera Hospital.
The 112 emergency services received a call from firefighters a few minutes after 08:00 am to report that several cars had collided at kilometer 88 of the A-45, in the direction of Malaga; They also indicated that there were people trapped in the wreckage.
The Health Emergencies Center (CES) 061, immediately alerted the Guard Civil Traffico, three medical teams -two from Antequera and one from Archidona, and road maintenance and civil protection teams.
Firefighters reported having to release three people who had been trapped inside their damaged vehicles.
The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) announced this morning of the total closure of the A-45 in the direction of Malaga at kilometer 88,500 as it passes through the Antequera district of Cartaojal due to a ‘spectacular traffic accident’ in which several vehicles have been involved.
As a consequence of the accident, several kilometers of traffic jams have backedup. A diversion has been enabled through exit 85 towards the N-331 while the vehicles involved in the accident are removed.
Emergency teams continue working on the scene, but for now, the reason for the collision is unknown.
