Benidorm Fest 2023 begins with a glamorous orange carpet parade of stars and a series of concerts scheduled throughout the day
Benidorm Fest 2023 has arrived. The bar is set high after the double success of 2022: the popularity of the musical selections and the strong performance of the Spanish representative at Eurovision. Despite the challenges of matching or surpassing that success, the focus is now on the 16 songs competing to represent Spain at Eurovision 2023, which will take place in Liverpool.
The festival in the tourist capital of the region began this Sunday and will feature a variety of activities and musical performances throughout the week. The winning song will be announced next Saturday morning.
Guests, celebrities, and contestants walked the carpet in front of the Benidorm Palace, the location where the private party is held. This will be an opportunity to take the first photographs, see the first images, and hear statements from those competing to represent Spain at Eurovision between May 9th and 13th.
The Orange Carpet event is the first Eurovisual party in Benidorm. Inside the Benidorm Palace, there will be various performances such as those by the Benidorm Musical Union and La Nova Musical Society of Benidorm, as well as more contemporary and commercial music with performances by Carlos Higes and Rosa Lopez, both of whom have competed at the Eurovision before.
All this serves as a preview so that this Tuesday, January 31, the first semifinal of the Benidorm Fest will take place , when the first 4 finalists will be known. Two days later it will be the turn of the second semifinal, with 8 candidates and another four winners. This is how the grid of eight singers who aspire to represent Spain will be formed.
The grand finale of the Benidorm Fest 2023Â will be held on Saturday, February 4 in the l’Illa de Benidorm pavilion, with an expected attendance of 3,000 people in the pavilion.
