The state meteorological agency Aemet has forecast that temperatures will plummet in the Spanish province of Alicante

Aemet’s forecast for this Thursday, February 9, predicts cloudy skies, with some light showers in the morning and snowfall from a thousand meters. The weather agency also predicts snowfall in Aitana and the rest of the province.

The cold will be the main protagonist on Thursday, February 9, as opposed to the rain and storms that have dominated the last few days and forced residents of Alicante to pack jackets and umbrellas in order to leave their homes.

Snowfall levels will be apparent at roughly a thousand meters of altitude today, following a day in which the snow returned to stain part of the Sierra de Aitana and had grown as thick as a half meter in some places.

Today, Thursday, February 9, the temperatures will continue to drop in the province of Alicante, especially in the interior where minimums of up to -1ºC are expected in towns such as Villena– there is also a risk of frost. The maximums, on the other hand, will not increase and may be at 14ºC in the capital.

For the moment, the people of Alicante can keep their umbrellas at home, the risk of rain has finally disappeared and the capital will be able to dry out after the last few days of storms.
