Hikers in the region of Spain’s Costa Blanca will soon be able to easily navigate the geographical landscape with the aid of a smartphone app
The Costa Blanca is well known for its beautiful coastline, but it also has many mountainous areas and natural parks that are perfect for hiking. A smartphone app is being created to assist hikers to navigate the province of Alicante’s natural beauties and to provide interesting and substantial information about the area.
Researchers from Alicante University- together with the province’s Digital Intelligence Unit- contributed to the concept. Users of the app will be able to obtain real-time information while walking from any location in the world.
It seeks to encourage a brand-new style of heritage-focused, environmentally responsible, and environmentally sustainable hiking in the nearby hills and mountains.
“We want to integrate and give people everything that has been compiled by different study groups about routes that hikers may be on or to conduct some preparation for a future trip,” project coordinator Manuel Benito Crespo said.

Some popular hiking areas in the Costa Blanca include:
- Sierra de Aitana: This mountain range is the highest in the Valencia region and offers challenging hikes with stunning views.
- Montgó Natural Park: This park near Denia offers a variety of hiking trails, ranging from easy to challenging, with great views of the Mediterranean.
- Penyal d’Ifac Natural Park: This park near Calpe has a famous hike up to the top of the Penyal d’Ifac, a large rock formation that juts out into the sea.
- Serra Gelada Natural Park: This park near Benidorm offers several hiking trails with panoramic views of the coast and the sea.
There are also many other hiking areas and trails in the Costa Blanca region, so it’s worth doing some research to find the one that’s right for you.
