The airports of Alicante and Valencia have recorded their best April ever. Specifically, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez has reached 1,435,274 passengers, while Manises has received 863,541 travellers in the fourth month of the year. In the case of the Alicante airport, the more than 1.4 million passengers in April represent a 7 percent increase compared to travellers in the same month in 2019 and a 19.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022, according to Aena in a statement.
Of the total number of passengers registered in April, 1,433,078 were commercial passengers, of which 1,239,992 travelled on international flights, resulting in a 4.3 percent increase compared to April 2019 and a 20.2 percent increase compared to 2022. Meanwhile, 193,086 took domestic flights, a 26.7 percent increase from before the pandemic and a 14.5 percent increase from last year.

Breaking down the international traffic by nationality, the countries that recorded the most passengers in April 2023 were the United Kingdom, with 502,722 passengers, followed by the Netherlands, with 95,172; Belgium, with 79,550; Norway, with 70,894; Germany, with 69,775, and France, with 67,337 travellers.
Regarding operations, the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport managed a total of 9,252 flights, surpassing the movements of April 2019 by 2 percent and increasing by 9.9 percent compared to the same month in 2022.
As for the figures for the first four months of the year, Alicante Airport managed a total of 4,066,192 passengers during the first four months of the year. This represents a 4.1 percent growth compared to the same period in 2019 and a 31.7 percent increase compared to 2022. In the same vein, in relation to operations, from January to April, a total of 26,756 flights were operated, 97.3 percent of the movements in 2019, and 16.8 percent more than in 2022.
In the case of Valencia Airport, it also closed the best April in its history with 863,541 passengers. With this figure, it has recorded the third-best historical month in absolute terms and represents a 14.8 percent growth compared to the same month in 2019, as well as a 20.6 percent increase compared to the last year 2022.
Of the total number of passengers registered in April, 861,654 were commercial passengers, of which 609,845 travelled on international flights – an 11.4 percent increase compared to April 2019 and a 24.7 percent increase compared to 2022 – while 251,809 did so on domestic flights – a 24.8 percent increase from before the pandemic and an 11.2 percent increase from last year.
Regarding the main origins and destinations of international passengers, the most numerous were those from/to Italy, which totalled 128,895 passengers, followed by France with 74,037 passengers, Germany with 73,637, the United Kingdom with 72,938, the Netherlands with 65,484, and Switzerland with 34,795.
As for operations, Valencia Airport managed a total of 6,967 flights, representing a 6.8 percent increase compared to the movements of April 2019 and surpassing 8.4 percent of those registered in the same month of 2022.
