The National Police is investigating the discovery of the bodies of a 54-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son found in a hotel room in the city
The Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) of the Generalitat received the call about the discovery of the bodies at 3:40 p.m. A Samur unit was quickly dispatched to the hotel located on Avenida de Les Corts Valencianes. once there, doctors found the son (who had a mental disability) lying on the bed. The woman was found on the floor. However, so far, it has only been possible to certify the death of both people, said a spokesperson from the Ministry of Health.
According to information released by the media, the woman checked into the hotel on Wednesday, August 30, with her son. The general hypothesis is that she killed her son and later committed suicide. The Homicide group of the National Police has taken charge of the investigation to help clarify the exact causes of the tragic deaths.
There have been other cases of mothers killing their disabled children in Spain. In 2019, a mother in Barcelona killed her 10-year-old autistic son and then herself. In 2020, a mother in Madrid killed her 13-year-old disabled son and then herself. And in 2021, a mother in Valencia killed her 11-year-old disabled son and then herself.
These cases have caused a great deal of pain and suffering in Spain. There is a lot of debate about what can be done to prevent these tragedies from happening again. Some people believe that more resources should be provided to families with disabled children. Others believe that there should be more awareness about the issue of filicide, which is the killing of a child by a parent.
It is important to remember that these cases are very rare. The vast majority of parents with disabled children do not harm their children. However, it is also important to be aware of the issue and to seek help if you are struggling. There are many resources available to families with disabled children, and you do not have to go through this alone.
