Estepona City Council has announced that work on the coastal corridor section on Playa del Cristo is finished

This new pathway enables you to walk, without interruption, the more than 17 kilometres from Costa Natura to El Saladillo. The new section will be accessible to the public next week, once the night lighting points are installed.

Althenia SLU carried out the works, and have had a total budget of 494,049 euros (VAT included). The work has been funded through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan-Funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU.

The new path, which will join the pedestrian promenade of Doncella Beach and Playa del Cristo, has a length of 354 metres and a width of 3 metres, after adapting its layout to the existing topography with the aim of minimizing earth movements.

In addition, this section has included the construction of a wooden walkway 12.30 metres long and 3 metres wide next to Doncella Beach. Access from the path to the beach has also been improved with stairs and a new ramp, which has replaced the old stairs.

This project, which has also included the installation of street furniture, taps, litter bins and bollards, will give a significant boost to the coastal corridor project in the western area of the city.

The coastal path project in Estepona is very advanced and is more than 90% complete, which means the existence of more than 20 kilometres of coastline linked by these pedestrian paths. This sustainable urban development initiative that connects the coastline is of great value because it has preserved this space and has created a new attraction for the municipality.

In the last two years, five new sections have been executed: the most recent in the Arroyo Vaquero area; the one that connects the Laguna Village shopping centre with Dominion Beach (with a length of 870 metres); a third section of 145 meters located in the Andalusian Riviera; another in front of the new IKOS Andalucía hotel and the fifth that connects this hotel facility with the Park Beach urbanization, which has a bridge of more than 60 metres over the Guadalmansa river.
