Lorry Fire on the A7 near El Chaparral!

A lorry engulfed in flames has caused massive congestion on the A7 junction close to El Chaparral

Traffic delays are due to a vehicle fire on the A7 motorway heading towards Marbella, at the junction of El Chaparral.

The circulation is very slow from kilometer 1023 to 1018, and is already backing up to Fuengirola. The General Directorate of Traffic recommends taking alternative routes to Marbella or the surrounding area.

The fire originated shortly before 9 am, after breaking one of the wheels of this vehicle, which was transporting boxes of beverages, leaving these completely burned.

A crew of Mijas Firefighters, the Guardia Civil, and Traffico, together with maintenance services, travelled to the scene at around 9 am this morning, Friday, November 11.

Fortunately, the driver did not require medical attention, this was confirmed later by the 112 Emergency service. The highway remains closed until the trailer is removed.

The fire generated a column of smoke visible for several kilometers. The so-called voyeur effect has also caused traffic jams and delays on the other side of the highway, in the direction of Malaga.
