Four people were hospitalised after being involved in a serious four-vehicle pile-up on the A-92 near Loja, Granada

The accident occurred just after 7:30 p.m. at exit 193 of the A-92, in the direction of Granada, in the province of Malaga. The emergency service responded to several calls from passing drivers alerting them of what had happened.

This prompted action by the Health Emergency Center (CES) 061, Traffic officers from the Guardia Civil, and the fire department. The health workers were quickly on the scene to treat the injured. Of the four wounded, three were men aged 28, 34, and 49, and a 35-year-old woman. All were transferred to the San Cecilio University Clinical Hospital for further care.

After being halted for over an hour, the traffic was allowed to carry on by the Guardia Civil. Emergency crews had cleared up the damage from the road and the Grua towed away all the damaged vehicles for later inspection.

It is not known at this stage what the cause of the accident was. The DGT announced recently a new campaign of police controls over December in a bid to make the roads safer for road users.
