Yellow weather alert warnings for the whole of Andalucía have been issued by the Spanish met office, AEMET
The alert will be in effect in the province of Huelva, where storms and powerful wind gusts are also predicted. “Aemet has already issued the yellow alert for heavy rain in the province [of Huelva], where 20mm are likely to fall in one hour and 40 in 12 hours,” says weather expert José Luis Escudero in his blog post titled “Storms and Lightning.”
A yellow warning is in effect for Malaga and the Costa del Sol beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 8.
Cordoba is on yellow alert starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, followed by Jaén at noon and Granada at 6 p.m. On Thursday, there is a moderate chance that there will be between 15mm and 40mm of cumulative rain in all of the Andalucían provinces.
Tornado in Marbella
On Monday, December 5, and early Tuesday morning, the province of Malaga experienced thirty incidents due to the rain and severe winds (6 December). The town with the biggest damage was Marbella, where a minor tornado on Monday afternoon damaged glass at the Costa del Sol Hospital, mildly injuring a worker.
