Three hooded gunmen robbed a couple of €90,000 and their car in broad daylight in Benalmadena, Malaga province
According to reports, the victims were carrying this large sum of money because they had intended to close a deal on a house in the area.
The robbery took place on Thursday at around 3:25 p.m. at the junction between Calle de Heliotropo and Muérdago, in the area of Sierrezuela de Benalmádena. The victims reported being taken totally by surprise in the attack.
A call to the emergency service 112-Andalucia alerted police to the robbery, which occurred in the street in broad daylight. As reported in the victim’s statements, the thieves used firearms and violence to steal the car and 90,000 euros. One of the victims, a 31-year-old man, was injured in the attack.
Operators quickly mobilised the health services, as well as the Local and National Police. The ambulance attended to the person who had been injured at the scene, without it being necessary to transfer him to a hospital as they were minor injuries.
Apparently, the victims told the agents that they had travelled from Catalonia to close a real estate deal. The couple explained to police that the reason why they were carrying that amount of cash.
Officers from the Local Police, after first assisting the victims, transferred them to the National Police Station to take a statement of the facts. An investigation is now underway to clarify all the circumstances of what happened.
