The municipality of Torremolinos in Andalucia will host two top swimming competitions in its Virgen del Carmen pool this year
The Virgen del Carmen pool will host the best swimmers in the Community from March 10 to 12. The town will also host the Andalucian Championship for Young Swimmers in the Benjamin category in June.
From March 10 to 12, the municipal Olympic pool will host the XXXVII Absolute Andalucian Championship and Winter Junior Open, a competition that will bring together the elite of Andalucian swimming in Torremolinos with some 500 athletes from all over the region.
In addition to bringing together a large number of relatives and fans of swimming in the local aquatic area, the contests will generate income for the town.
The Absolute Andalucía Championship and Winter Junior Open will be held over three days ( March 10, 11, and 12 ).
Clubs such as Mairena, Churriana, Navial, Inacua Málaga, Círculo Mercantil, Kronos Mijas, Náutico de Sevilla, Alcalá, Dos Hermanas, and the University of Granada will be present at this prestigious regional event.
This competition joins the XXXIII Andalucian Swimming Championship for Young Swimmers in the Benjamin category, an event that will also take place in the Virgen del Carmen Olympic pool on June 17 and 18 and will bring together the most promising swimmers from the eastern area of Andalucia.
The athletes participating in this competition are those born in 2011 and 2012 for the male category and born in 2013 and 2014 for the female category.
The hosting of these two competitions in the sports facilities of the town is another example of the determined commitment by the City Council to promote the so-called sports tourism, a segment that helps to deseasonalize and contributes to strengthening the local economy at times of the year where the influx of visitors is less.
