Benalmádena’s Mississippi steamboat is to be evicted after an appeal lodged by the port authority by a judge in Malaga was upheld

The mayor of Benalmádena, Víctor Navas; and the Councilor for the Port, Encarnación Cortés, have reported the ruling of the Provincial Court of Málaga, which admits the appeal filed by the Puerto Deportivo against the sentence that ordered it to pay 400,000 euros for the termination of a contract with the company that owns the Willow, the Mississippi ship that remains semi-sunken in the port area.

“The Willow already has a date for its eviction and scrapping from the Marina for April 26, which will allow us to recover and fix the image and aesthetics of the Benalmadena marina, which last Christmas was enriched and completed with the installation of a panoramic Ferris wheel, generating a new element of tourist attraction”, said the mayor.

The Willow, which has been moored in Benalmádena for decades, was built at the beginning of the last century to sail on the Mississippi. After being brought to Benalmádena it was used for some time as a floating nightclub, as well as a restaurant and even a secret brothel.
