Nine firefighters from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium (CPB) of Malaga who flew to Turkey to assist in rescue efforts are to be given an M award next week
Nine firefighters from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium (CPB) of Malaga travelled to Turkey to aid in rescue efforts and provide humanitarian aid following the devastating earthquakes in the south of the country and northern Syria. These brave professionals risked their lives to carry out this vital work, and their efforts will be recognized at the upcoming Malaga M Awards, which will be held by the Provincial Council on Monday, February 27th at the Edgar Neville Auditorium.
On Tuesday, CPB President Francisco Salado announced at a press conference that these firefighters had mobilized on February 6th, just after the first earthquakes hit, to join forces with different associations and help at the epicenter of this catastrophic event. They have been working tirelessly for nine days to assist those affected by the disaster.
Salado said they are ” heroes who represent the best of society, of each and every one of us in Malaga and the mirror in which we have to look at ourselves”, and that he valued their “courage, seriousness and solidarity” in their work.

“I know you don’t like the label of heroes but there is no other qualifier, no other way to call you,” assured the provincial president, Francisco Salado. He also recalled that in previous catastrophes where they have provided help, they have decided to “help all the people who need it, no matter how complicated it may be and always putting their lives at risk. Only heroes do that.”
The Malaga M Awards held by the Provincial Council on Monday, February 27 at the Edgar Neville Auditorium will recognize the work of the nine firefighters from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium (CPB) of Malaga who left for Turkey after the earthquakes that devastated the south of the country and northern Syria to collaborate in the rescue efforts of people alive and in humanitarian aid.
The president pointed out that these firefighters, including Francisco Javier Luque Sanchez, Pedro Luque Cruz, Jose Antonio Solano Cardenas, Jair Pereira Rodriguez, Jorge Marin Delgado, Maria Garcia Fernandez, Antonio Manuel Cobos Manzano, Lorenzo Alvarez Rojo, and Jaime Navarro Ortuño, have not only carried out their own tasks but also developed humanitarian tasks with different NGOs such as Bomberos Sin Fronteras, Bomberos por el Mundo, and GERCCMA.
María García spoke on behalf of the nine firefighters and thanked this recognition of their work that she considers “very vocational” and means “contributing our grain of sand with our knowledge, work, and profession”. The Malaga Provincial Council will celebrate the Malaga M Awards on Monday, February 27 at 12:00, in the Edgar Neville Auditorium, on the occasion of Andalusia Day.
