Protests against the Russian invasion of Ukraine are being staged in Malaga by the Ukrainian association of the Costa del Sol, Maydan
On the first anniversary of the “large-scale war” in Ukraine, refugees, residents of the country, and volunteers from across Spain will gather to express their rejection of the invasion that took place 365 days ago, including the occupation of Donbas. In Málaga, the provincial collective Maydan Málaga has organized a demonstration at 5 pm in Plaza de la Marina.
Two hours later, a similar demonstration will take place in Madrid’s Plaza de España. According to Maryana Kasiv, the president of Maydan Málaga, this mobilization should serve as a reminder of the first massive meeting held on February 24 last year, where there was a unanimous rejection of “the aggressor country” and a citizen demonstration of support for Ukraine.
This support then turned into tons of aid, informational, moral, and material support in the form of products and clothing for refugees.

Aid collections
“We continue to collect a lot of aid material or clothing, because donations are very necessary just twelve months later, when many people forget about the conflict due to distance, at the UMA sports centre in Teatinos. That is where we have an office and a collection point”, says Maryana Kasiv.
Donation delivery hours are Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This includes the solidarity closet initiative, thanks to the coordination of a group of volunteers who also condition the boxes. and transportation vehicles. There are more than twenty people who cooperate permanently, “and we call when it’s time to load trucks.”
