Blaze rips through Marbella Fuengirola bus

A fire that started at the back of a bus quickly spread and caused traffic jams on the main entry road to Marbella

On Saturday, February 25, a bus travelling on the interurban line that connects Fuengirola and Marbella in the province of Malaga caught fire, resulting in a billowing smoke cloud that caused much alarm to bystanders.

Passengers had alerted the driver to the fire and all seven of them were quickly and safely evacuated.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The 112 Andalucía Emergency service received multiple notifications of the incident shortly before 10:00 am, indicating that a bus was on fire on the N-340 road near the Marbella arch at the entrance to the town.

The coordination centre quickly dispatched the local police and fire brigade of Marbella to the scene, who managed to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage. The rear of the bus was the only part that suffered from the fire. Meanwhile, Marbella’s Local Police blocked traffic on the road while the fire was being put out.

Thankfully, the incident was resolved without any injuries.
