The mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, has announced the creation of a Youth Centre to increase the leisure activities on offer for the town’s youth
The Youth Centre will be located on the Paseo Fluvial and will have spaces for concerts and different recreational, cultural, sports and leisure activities exclusively for the city’s youth. The public competition for the drafting of the project for this new municipal unit began on February 3 and five architecture studios are competing for the project.
“In the past City Debate Plenary I announced the launch of a new project for the city aimed at a very specific and important sector. I am talking about the Fuengirola Youth Centre, which we are going to locate here, in the vicinity of the Paseo Fluvial, in the Miramar area. We want it to be the reference space for our young people. A place designed exclusively for them in this area, which together with the future Natural Park, the Skate Park and some new infrastructure in which we are working, will be a leisure and enjoyment area for all Fuengirola residents”, the councillor said.
The local executive published the tender for the drafting of this project on February 3 for an amount of 89,273.8 euros and an initial execution period of 60 days. The contracting process is underway and the town hall is now evaluating the offers.
The designer will have to define how the 1,300 meters of constructed area of this municipally owned building, which was once a private exploitation concession, will be conditioned. In this sense, Mula has indicated that the idea of the Government team is to provide the venue with rooms to be able to host activities such as concerts, escape rooms, gaming, and free artistic expression, as well as 500 square meters of outdoor areas for practising sports. or urban disciplines, such as callisthenics, among others.
“They are recreational-cultural activities that young people and the members of the Youth Council usually demand of us. In the Colores building, we carry out many of them, but it is time to dedicate a space exclusively to this age group so that they can socialize and have fun, in a healthy way, doing some of the activities they like the most”, said the mayor.
