The ‘La Nogalera’ cultural space will host ‘Resident’s Day’ on March 25 and 26 and Cudeca will be present to raise funds for the charity
The Mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid, and the Councillor for Events, José Manuel Ruiz Rivas, presented the “Resident’s Day” event which will take place on March 25 and 26 at the La Nogalera cultural space. This event will feature 17 participating associations.
Name Change for the Event
During the presentation, the Mayor stated that the name of the event has been changed from “Day of the Foreign Resident” to “Resident’s Day.” She explained that regardless of where one was born if they have chosen Torremolinos as their city, they are a full-fledged resident.
Event Highlights
The event will showcase a gastronomic and craft fair with musical performances that will delight residents and visitors alike. The participating associations will represent numerous nationalities through their cuisine, works, and musical styles.
The Participating Associations
The participating associations include Filipino Multicultural Association in Andalucia, Argentine Costasoleña Association, Iskcon Málaga, Vive México, Salt Pact for the Earth, Friends of Germany, Caseta Chilena Cultural Association, Cubanos Unidos Torremolinos, Killay from Peru, Bolivian Artistic Multicultural Association, Ciudad Islámica Torremolinos, Latin American Association Mano Amiga, United Hindus of Spain, Cudeca Foundation, Finnish Association, Parasol Costa del Sol, Association of Ecuadorians, and Chinese Association.
Solidarity with the Cudeca Foundation
During the event, the *Cudeca Foundation, a non-profit foundation that allocates its benefits to specialized care for people with cancer and other diseases in an advanced stage and supports their families, will participate with a table for the sale of articles in solidarity.
Free and Open to the Public
This activity is free and open to all types of public. Visitors can attend the event from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday the 25th and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday the 26th.
*Cudeca stands for “Fundación Cuidados del Cáncer” (Foundation for Cancer Care) and it is a non-profit organization based in the province of Málaga, Spain.
The foundation is dedicated to offering specialized palliative care to patients who suffer from advanced or non-curable cancer, as well as support to their families. The organization was founded in 1992 and has since then provided free care to thousands of people, with the help of volunteers, professionals and donors.
Cudeca offers a variety of services including home care, an inpatient unit, daycare, psychological support and spiritual assistance. The organization also relies on fundraising events and donations to finance its services.
