Over 900 players will participate from April 5 to 8 in the XII edition of the international grassroots football tournament ‘Marbella Cup Soccer’

Eight municipal sports facilities will host the XII edition of the international grassroots football tournament ‘Marbella Cup Soccer’ from April 5 to 8, an event in which more than 900 players from different parts of the country will participate and which will feature 70 teams and the celebration out of 150 matches.

The councillor for the sector, Manuel Cardeña, indicated that the event comes at Easter, a time when there is a sports break for our clubs and that the participation of high-class clubs is expected. In addition, he underlined “the economic boost of the championship for the city”, with an estimated impact of around 1 million euros.

The organizer of the tournament, Ramón Gómez, explained that “more and more teams are joining this event”, in which teams participate in the categories of youngest, fry, children, cadets and youth. He explained that the inaugural parade will take place on Wednesday, April 5 and that the preliminary phase will be held on the 6th and 7th, at the different facilities.

The finals will take place on Saturday, April 8, in the fields of San Pedro Alcántara and will be refereed by former international referee César Muñiz. He has also highlighted “the economic impact of the championship for the city and the loyalty to the destination for many families who come to the tournament.”
