United Airlines has announced that the direct connection with Malaga Airport on Spain’s Costa del Sol will debut on May 31, 2023, and will be active throughout the summer until late September- the service will operate three flights per week.
Antonio del Toro, Sales Manager in Spain for the company, has announced that there will be 52 one-way flights and 52 return flights, three per week, offering more than 17,000 seats in both directions.
The first flight of this season will depart on May 32 from New York and arrive in Malaga on June 1. The first flight from the Costa del Sol will depart on June 2.
In addition to these flights, the company will operate eight flights from Spain to the US this summer – five of them to New York (Madrid, Barcelona, Palma, Tenerife, and Malaga), two to Washington (from Barcelona and Madrid), and one to Chicago O’Hare (from Barcelona). It is experiencing increased demand this season compared to last year.
The revival of the direct flight between Malaga and New York is perfect because it coincides with this year’s celebration, between September 18 and 24, in the town of Casares in Malaga, of the Solheim Cup, the women’s golf tournament that pits players from Europe and the US against each other. It is a major event, and this type of connection will facilitate the arrival of people who want to enjoy the most important women’s golf tournament of the year.
On the occasion of the launch of the route, senior executives of the airline will travel on the flight that will arrive on June 1 at Malaga Airport, where an inauguration event organized in collaboration with Aena, the Tourism Department of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and Costa del Sol Tourism is planned.
To promote this route, the airline is carrying out various promotional activities. Among them is the recording of the Ringer Food podcast from different locations. Juliet Litman and David Jacoby have been the protagonists in this podcast about gastronomy and the culinary offerings of the Costa del Sol, considered one of the best calling cards of the destination.
