The Marbella City Council is implementing a special security plan for Christmas with 170 additional local police officers, in addition to the regular service. Approximately 400 local officers will be active during the hundred Christmas events, as stated by the councillor in charge, José Eduardo Díaz.
The municipal authority has indicated that this Local Police plan will be in coordination with other emergency services, such as the National Police and the Guardia Civil.
Díaz has provided details, stating, “For the smooth functioning of these holidays, during which almost a hundred events will take place throughout the municipal area, around 400 local officers, 80 firefighters, a similar number of Civil Protection volunteers, and health services will be active.”
The plan, initiated on December 1 with the lighting ceremony, will extend until January 6, the Three Kings’ Day. The councilor specified that each event will have security measures, “considering that it is a time when there is a large influx of people,” and added that, as in previous years, the ‘Safe Parade’ plan will be implemented, along with an extensive traffic arrangement.
He appealed to the prudence and responsibility of citizens during these holidays, stating that “Marbella has always been exemplary in this regard.”
On another note, the Marbella Merchants and Hospitality Platform has organized the fourth edition of “The Elf Route,” scheduled for Saturday, December 16. This initiative aims to encourage purchases in local businesses and revitalize the Old Town.
The event will begin at 12:00 pm in Plaza de la Victoria with an animation show, where families will receive a map indicating the route with various points. Christmas characters will guide the little ones and distribute toys and sweets. Additionally, there will be a draw for €3,000 in prizes at the end of the activity.
